Come again

Hello world and good morning! It is 3:42 AM here in the Coachella Valley and a cold 48 degrees, yeah I know that is warm compared to Michigan weather right now, but still. Three more days till the end of this wild and wooly year known as 2020. Hmmm? Will it become part of our vocabulary like “Dude! You’ve been 2020’d!” or will many never speak of those words again and treat them like the number 13 and consider it unlucky? I wonder. At this time of the morning or day all I can do is wonder. Lately my mind has been going over the events of this year. It has been remarkable, actually, quite eye opening for me and I am sure for millions. If you are reading this, then you made it to see another sunrise and complain and laugh and cry and protest and rejoice. Me, I am thankful that I have time and lots of it! Time to work on all those little projects of mine and time to do absolutely nothing. Time to watch movies! Just yesterday I checked out a suggested movie on Netflix as I like Brittany Murphy, and it suggested The Ramen Girl. I guess it was cheesy because I loved it and the message or moral of the story. Makes we wanna move to Japan and learn the Tao of Ramen. Anyhow I have started working on posting, creating short videos and such of all the photos and videos I have shot in the past 3 years. Actually, what I am doing is organizing as I had started out a few years ago creating files for each event or time I went out and shot anything.

These are how the files are labeled in my two external hard drives.

One thing that I was good at when I used to work in the corporate world was keep files. Some jobs I was auditing up to 20 restaurants and night clubs a day and created a quick filing system for myself so that I could find items quickly like invoices, credits, email communication between me and the venues and anything that I thought might be considered important. I always make sure to include keywords in the title of the file to make it easy to search. Well, now I need to go back and organize all those files, (my own) and get rid of copies and such. I guess I am thinking about this after I spoke to my son about his job. I reminded, both of them to always get everything in writing and file away anything that may help you later like a job offer or what is included in a contract. So, as I was saying, I am working on old shots and viewing videos. Yesterday I had pulled an unlabeled card and popped it into the reader and it had some cool things on it. That card contained photos from the first week in January 2020. Hubby had a gig in Seal Beach with a band he used be in. Here is short sample of them from that night.

What a fun night it was. Hubby is in the back playing bass. The singer has been in a cult classic movie….Have you seen it….hmmmm?

The night that he played I had a great seat in that little lounge. I was right beside the piano player. Also, knew it would be okay to record and shot photos. I noticed the big difference right away. To me, I did not get many bad shots. It was dark in there, accept for the stage lights but I managed to get what I was after, playing hands.

All the focus and what I try to keep clear are the hands and fingers/
Even singers use their hands.
Drummer face!

Looking at all the photos and video from that night felt like I was right back there. Maybe next year at this time, we will be sitting in some dark lounge and tapping our feet and bobbing our heads to the beat or maybe Hubby will be back on stage along with the many that are missing show times.

Also on that disk was our trip to Marina del Rey. We took a ride out there after we checked out of the hotel the morning after he played. It was just what I needed.

Hubby drove to this spot in Playa del Rey. We sat by this one lifeguard tower and looked north. We watched sail boats and this guy playing fetch with his dog.

This is the wall that we were sitting on.
The lone surfer, at least that day.

I love when Hubby takes me to places that he used to hang out at as it gives me a small glimpse of him as he and I have many things that we do not now about each other.

We watched that dog for 15 minutes as he played fetch with his pet parent.
Those ducks put on quite a show as they skimmed the water and flew back and forth in the canal.
Fishing, good for the mind and soul.
Comfy Sunday chanklas.
This was taken from that wall.
Peaceful….

I guess I am missing the LA area and being able to be at the beach in under 30 minutes. The ocean is not going anywhere and I know that as soon as this latest surge of cases goes down and Hubby is back to working normal hours, we will get back out there. Right now, is the time to stay home and that is okay. Hopefully, you dear reader, have not become one of those numbers and if you have, may you stay positive and get through it.

Well, I could write so much more as the hamster is still running that endless race in my mind. Time to try out a new recipe or paint or work on strumming. Oh, it is coming along, learning to play guitar, maybe by this time next year I will have figured out how to sing and play at the same time! (Laughing to myself). By the way, to you singing musicians, how do you do it? Really? It is harder than ya’ll make it look. I just want to learn the song The Cat Came Back so that I can play it for my grandkids, yes, really. The first time I heard it was in kindergarten, a traveling musician that came to our school once a year and saved this song as the encore and it made us all squeal when we heard it. Please press play.

There are so many versions of this song but this man makes me feel like I am listening to an Uncle or Grandpa..

To you dear reader, where ever you and where ever your roads take you, get there safely. Hugs to you and you and YOU!

    Howdy, M!

The band played nice boogie. I played the video and I really loved it. And you shot beautiful frames too. About the finger, that was a nice thought. To play that kind of music, the musicians really have to work extra with their hands.

I like The Cat Came Back. I hope you can play it to your grandkids one day. 🙂

Anyway, it is 11 minutes past 12 pm now here on the other side of the world. So happy new year! 🙂

    1. Hola Ajo!

Happy New Year to you and Madam! Hope this year you will get to travel!

Thank you, I will let Hubby know 🙂 Ha ha! Yeah I wish he still played with them.

That song probably got me into music. I am getting more comfortable with the guitar, maybe soon I post my playing.
Take care and be well 🙂

        Hola!

Thank you! And I hope you can travel too this year. I’m really looking forward to read your travels.

Wow, that’s great! It’s an important step for playing an instrument. For these past six months I frequently open the ultimate guitar website. They have more than a million songs to learn and I think you’ll enjoy it. The nice part is they include the chord charts on their song pages so we needn’t waste time seeking for the chord voicing on Google. 😀

You too. Take care and stay well. 🙂

      2. Thanks for the tip! I have been following Justin Guitars on Youtube. He just put up a free study plan for beginners like me! I will check out Ultimate Guitars for sure 🙂

Yes, I am positive that we both wil be traveling and writing new stories about our travels before the year is up. 🙂
