The P Word

Good morning world! How goes it? You made it to March 1, 2021. Remember, a gazillion years ago when people were claiming, “Will March ever end?” or “This is the longest March ever”. Actually, that was only March of last year and the start of the P word – Pandemic. The word that was thrown around as if it were a new word to add to the Urban Dictionary Anyhow, yesterday, I got twenty-twenty’d. Ugh! I was got a little too overconfident and callously walked down our stairs like I was not a person with drop foot and balance issues. Lucky for me, my reaction time is still as good as it was when I was wee child as I slipped going down the stairs and my left arm instinctively, grabbed the banister and kept me from sliding down the rest of the stairs. Anyhow, I am a little sore. My left arm feels like I dislocated it. My biggest fear as I was going down was landing on my ass. Having CES and L-4-L5 removed, falling is a real threat. However, I can’t live my life scared I just need to be more careful and not so cocky. It was a wake call and thank you for it! I stayed away from upstairs for the remainder of the day but knew I had to conquer my fear and walk carefully up those stairs and I did it, safely. Now to go back down them…yikes! No really, I will just be sure to hold on to the banisters as I descend, that is all.

Here is a post from last year and the recap…oy vey (palm on forehead)…

Saturday’s Child

This was taken last March when the pandemic closures had many humans looking for things to do.

Last year at this time, I tried so many things to spark some creativity. The weather was typical and Spring like. Skies were blue, birds were singing in the trees and bees were buzzing everywhere. Hubby and I are used to eating meals in our car, even before the pandemic restrictions began. I usually take my camera everywhere with me, like a security blanket and was able to capture some cool things that I may have never noticed before, like the birds and bees. During the beginning of what is now our present although with the vaccine becoming more available, hope for former social lives appear to be fast approaching on the horizon. Last March 1, I was busy getting ready our trip to Laughlin that Hubby had planned for my birthday. Here is a short video from that last trip we took.

Laughlin, NV is still one of my favorite places to spend time off.

FYI, I have been up and down those stairs a few times this morning, (Looking up and thanking God, my ancestors, good spirits and so on and so forth)…In March of last year, I had already resigned myself to not trying to take photos at live music events as it was just getting to difficult to get around so I tried out different things to keep my mind active. I played with water. I baked and tried out new recipes and got out of my comfort zone and started commenting on blog posts and met a few cool people from faraway lands. By the way, THANK YOU!!! To all of the kind people that blog and take time to visit my posts and also to the ones that respond to my comments on your posts. Really, I know I say it often, but many of the blog posts that I read are the next best thing to travel as I am getting to read about others personal experiences in these places I have never been to and may never see in person.

See I get a little giddy around water. Funny but when I shot this video, I had no idea the USA was going to enter a coin shortage, yes, a coin shortage…

I hit a milestone, I turned 50 last March and welcomed that number with enthusiasm! A definite rite of passage. So much happened during that month but really, so much has happened in the last 365 days. My eyes and ears were opened and I saw people for who they really were under the mask that hid their true feelings and heart. It was hard to let go of old ideas and relationships. I learned that pro-women means different things to different people and that children and police are seen as pawns to some and heroes to others. Thinking about the way children and law enforcement were used as political propaganda. Thinking about January 6, 2021 and an officer getting beaten with an American flag…oooh sorry, that is still raw in my head and I am sure many others. By the way, here is the definition of Patriotism for those who may have not learned about it through a formal education.

I miss my friend but know that we do not see the world the same way and that is okay. She can keep her beliefs and I will keep mine.

Hmmm, national pride? To me, this means to be proud of America and why it was created and feelings of love? Is that love for some and no love for others that do not look a certain way? However, when I read the last part of this definition, “same sentiment” and know that definition will be interpreted to fit the ideology of who ever reads it. Please, for the love of humans and this country that everyone that claims they have, educate yourself on history and economics and science while you are at it. I know that statistics is a far reach for some, but maybe take a refresher course, they have those on Youtube. Sorry about that, feeling a little melancholy as I have had to let a few things go in my life and know that it okay for me and if I make it back to this point next year, I will have these words to read to see if anything has changed. Anyhow, being stuck at home got me headed in many directions. I got more confident with the guitar and happily practice daily, although I am not any closer to playing a song, yet, but I know that in time, it will happen. I finally figured out what I like doing with my photography and that is painting pictures out of some of the photos that I take. It is my flavor of the month right now. No, I am not trying to become the next big (insert accolade here). I am just enjoying all this time I have to try these new things.

This is the photo that inspired the above painting that I have not finished. It is mellowing and will probably be transformed into something else.

Now I am having trouble picking out things to paint. I do have a few ideas. One is to photograph my recipes, after I have prepared the food of course, and then writing the recipe on the back. Then I am going to decorate the ceiling of our kitchen with them. Hopefully, that will turn out, if iit doesn’t no harm no foul, right? The latest picture I am painting is of musician Lele Rose. I met her a few years ago when I was an aspiring photographer and my head full of ideas and dreams, still full of stuff…

How it all starts…

The photo above is the canvas and the tracings. I print a photo out and trace over the detail with a Sharpie, although it is not perfect, it acts as a guide when I am looking at the photo and trying to recreate it. I have a few troubles with my vision, so this keeps things in perspective for me. I spend a few hours a day with my new hobby until my spine cries out “Uncle!” The joy and the pain of getting….sorry…older…

Thank you dear reader for visiting! Where ever in the world you are, and what ever your ideology is, may you have peace today and joy, may joy shine down on you like the sun. Hugs to you and you and especially you!

Side note: I had praised Governor Cuomo for how he was so effective in getting information out to the public and that I liked the charts and such. So, now there is news that he has been inappropriate with a few women and I have to believe these women as I believed those women that spoke out against that Supreme Court judge and our ex-president. One of them had saved text messages. My kids, remember what I said about getting everything in writing?!!? This is a perfect example, oh yeah and anything you send out into the Universe can and may come back to haunt you. Thinking about a few people in my life. Good for that women for having back-up (saved text messages). Anyhow, Mr. Cuomo, I hope beyond hope that you did not do those things and that this is some propaganda. You have a right to be judged but I am just putting this out there, please do not make a bad situation worse and blame the victims. I know that it is hard to speak up about such offenses as usually the victim is made to look like the villain…Saying sorry means nothing if you do not show that truly sorry. That is all…

So glad you caught yourself! That happened to me a couple of years ago and the handrail came out of the wall! It had been placed for appearance and not safety. I got that fixed.

While some division is still ugly, I do think this last year was an opportunity for everyone to relax and get better at being themself. I think good for the future will come from the pandemic year.

    Like the paintings.

    1. Hi there! I am glad that there are two handrails and the staircase is narrow and well padded. Glad you got yours fixed ’cause you just never know when you need ’em.

I totally agree with you on the division as it gave me a bit of clarity.

Thank you! I like that it keeps me occupied and my hands busy. Take care and have a lovely day.

I hope you’re doing okay after the stairway accident. You know, come to think about it, I guess I’m a little bit paranoid with stairs, when I was climbing them up. I always afraid that I would fall and lose a tooth or two. πŸ˜€

Too bad I didn’t do blogwalking on your birthday. Well. I hope it is not too late to say “happy birthday to you.” I hope you always stay healthy and I also hope that all your dreams come true. πŸ™‚

    1. I am doing okay although I have a tennis ball shaped bruise on my hip. That would be horrible, losing a teeth or falling down stairs. Truth is, I watch to many of those low budget horror movies and many times people meet their end or the villain on a stairway…me and my active imagination.
Today is my birthday! I am 51. I hope I always stay healthy too. Seeing my sister dying is hard. She may not make it much longer 😦

Thank you, so much, for the birthday wishes! I really appreciate it. πŸ™‚
